Here is what’s going on. I just got a 04 F-350 PSD, 80k mile. I have had it for 3 weeks Sat. When I test drove it, something did not feel right, but I could not finger it. The Dealer looked at it again and said it was fine and nothing showed up on there testing. So we got the truck with the under standing that they would check it out in 3 weeks. I go to the dealer dropped off the truck for a surging problem that was there when I got it. The problem I could not put my finger on. Anyway I break out my laptop plug it in to the truck and I start finding codes that are hidden(masked) by dealer in the system. Like a PO299 and P1000. The P0299 is a turbo under boost and the P1000 is a Manf Cntrl fuel air metering, Auxiliary Emission controls. They tell me the truck has blown head gaskets and I have to pay to fix it. I told them to kiss my you know…LOL Anyway I had such a nut at the dealer they had 2 people walk out on there closing of there car deals. Don’t get me wrong I was nice about it. But my argument is they hide the problem on the truck and they need to fix it at no charge to me. They sold a broken truck and they new it.
My family members have owned ford dealer ships in fl and Ga and I did work for ford years ago. There are set protocols (that are done by ford) that deals are to follow, but most fly in the gray areas. But this dealer ship is new and there fling in the black and I'm going to be a pain in there ???. I already have all the domain names done and some othere things ready if this problem is not address the right way.
Something that’s funny here. My grandfather always told me never bite the hand that feeds you. I own a auto parts store and who do you think this dealer buys there motorcraft part from.....LOL
A little note here, I have already ordered my head gasket kit for MY TRUCK that the dealer will call me on Monday....and I'm going to hand derived my self. This should be fun. I'll fill you in as this happens.
good luck, you know they're gonna give you the as-is B/S. Isn't there a warranty on these engines for 5 years 100k miles? I had a 2001 that had a warranty on the engine from navistar with a $100 deductible.
Am I missing something here? You have a '04 SD 6.0L PSD with 80k miles? What's the issue with using the factory warranty? Did you install aftermarket crap...like a tuner? If not, then they fix it under warranty. What's the problem that they do not want to repair it?
If you complained about the truck when you bought it they should fix it. They obviously knew about the headgaskets and turbo issue. The p1000 code is nothing, since that code is set everytime you even disconnect the batteries. If for some reason the engine is ought of warranty for whatever reason (salvage?) then they would have had to disclosed that to you during the sale. At most it should cost you $100, but the way it sounds like they do business I think I'd find another dealership for the repair before I'd give them squat. Or make it up in your parts business.
Sounds like you're dealing with the wrong dealer. I have 2 dealers close to me and one isa rip. Never could deal with them. Other dealer is a rare bird - honest and helpful. Never thought I'd use those words in a sentence with dealer. Two instances: 1) When buying my '05, 'good" dealer says "pick up new truck next Tuesday". Called before going up and was told truck was not in (3PM). Wouldn't be in until Wed. Wed at 9 AM dealer calls and says truck is ready.
Got to dealer and found truck WAS there on Tuesday. Salesman said that he couldn't let me have it on Tuesday because the additional Ford $1700 rebate didn't start until Wed, and here's your check.
2) Go to "other" dealer and get price on '08 F350. Lousy trade in & difference figures. Go back to "good" dealer, with same trade in, buy SAME truck, (same VIN#), for $6,332 less than "other" dealer.
Anyone in the Baltimore/dc AREA SHOPPING, pm me and I'll give you the "other" dealer's name. The "good" dealer is MILLER BROTHERS FLM in Ellicott City.

They had to know the problem was there, and it should have been fixed before it went out on the lot to be sold. If you go into any big three auto dealership to buy a new or used truck or car. I want a truck or car with out major problems like with motor and trans… I don’t have the problem paying the 100 bucks it the prince able in the way they did it and that little itch that’s going to be there in the back of your head, what’s next and is it covered. I did find out after I posted that one of my buddies is there new head Diesel guy. We were talking about trucks and I told him my truck was there and it needs a head kit on it. He said ford is having lots of problems with there 6.0 and the head bolts getting stretched under high boost and it's the head gaskets pop. The right fix is a stud kit for the heads but ford won’t do it. I'm going to get the kit and he'll put it in for me with out them knowing.
**Note** for other that don’t know, If the radiator coolant is coming out the filler or your filler is empty all the time that your first sign you have a blown head gasket and it need to be looked at. The surging is number two sign.
Glad to hear that you got your problem fixed! I wish I could get something done with mine. I thought maybe some of yinz would have an idea of what I should do next, so I figure ill add onto this post. Bought my truck one year ago, almost to this day. A few days after I had it, noticed a smell, and something on the garage floor, this is after ive done a complete tune up. Called the Stealership, they say bring it in, so I do. They call me at work and say the head gaskets are shot. Keep in mind this is only a few days after I have bought the truck. Now they cut me a supposed deal, 800 a side, which i feel is ridiculous seeings as how I had just gotten the truck, I feel that they should pay the whole thing, if not most of it, what do you all think?? Now, for going on a year now, I have been playing catch somebody at the dealership, they guy i dealt with there, the supposed sales manager evidently doesnt give a poodle poop because i call and his secretary says he is not in, i leave a message, never returns my calls. Today, finally i get a hold of him, he doesnt even know who i am. So im really steamed at this point with the truck. Now to make matters worse, the paint on the bed started bubbling last fall, now that has turned into a huge issue, both diff seals look like they need replaced, bottom lips of front doors are rusting, and the blower motor s*** the bed. Now generally im not one to complain much, but this is ridiculous for a so called "super duty" I do like the truck in general though, it is wonderful outside of these issues.....Anybody got any ideas of what to do to at least get my head gaskets fixed?
One quick suggestion - 4X8 sheet of plywood painted yellow mounted upright in the truck box. "LEMON" in big black letters, along with whatever other comments appropriate to the dealer and the situation. BIG LETTERS. Park in front of the dealership as long and as often as possible. Drive it around town. (Make sure dealers name shows).

What kind of SuperDuty are you talking about? How many miles? What year? Have to at least give us some info on your truck...right?
So...you have had your SD for a year...and are still driving it with blown head gaskets? What's up with that?
you've worked at a ford stealership and didnt know to ask for an oasis report?
I know about the report. I'm after there CSI report. This is what the dealers gets graded on by fords main office. If they don't have good CSI numbers this cut there car and truck inventory and money to that dealer for up grades. This is how stupid this gets, they sell more trucks there then cars, BUT only have one PSD mechanic. A two day job has taken a week for them to do as of today. I talked to another dealer that knows me and they said they would go get the truck in whatever state it's in and drag it back to there dealership and fix it.
i bought a taurus with a bad tranny. by the time i got it home it was slipping. just so happened with this car the dealer offered an aftermarket warranty(imagine that). poor saps had to eat it for a bad tranny under warranty.
USED car salesmen = dirtballz. most new car salesman too.
Well I got it back to night, It runs thats all I know for right now. I going out to Arizona in 6 hours for some me and wife time, so I'll give it the shake down in 10 days.
Heres what was replaced with new; Turbo, EGR valve, EGR cooler, both Heads, Head gaskets, and injection pump. So says the paper work..
