I have a 97 F150 4X4 with a 4.6L. It is bringing up a code in the computer saying high trans range sensor input. I swapped the TRS, but it still reads the same code. I need to get this truck inspected and they will not do it if the light is on.
Check the reference voltage feed into the TR sensor. I believe it is a 5V reference(but check to be sure). also check for a good ground. You could have a wiring short to a higher voltage in the harness somewhere. If you have the ability to hook a scanner up to it, read the TR voltage the module is seeing.
I appreciate the advice. I am still trying to track it down. The voltage from pin 64 on the computer is 5.09. I even disconnected the thing and is still read high input. I am not sure what the problem is. I had to build the engine harness so now I am looking at that to make sure I did not get something crossed.
i have a 99 ford f-150 that did yhe same thing, had to go to dealer ship and have a new key made .they said key has a chip in it.it worked on mine.cost about 75.00 >>>>>>>>slippinout10

..and this has what to do with a TRS fault code problem?
it was not the trs sending the code but lose of power or a power surge through the pcm, sending a false code. sounds like stupid needs to be educated before it becomes ignorant!!
