i am replacing the bearings and seals on my 9" axle shafts. i got the old stuff off and put on my seal, bearing and collar, put it in a press and one axle seated fine, one of them lacks about a 1/4 of an inch from being seated as far as the other. is this bad problem??? i had it in a press that the gauge went up to about 30 but i only went as far as 15-20, im sure it is in tons, but anyways what do i need to do?? i cant pull it back off and start over without tearing everything up. thanks .
You press the bearing and collar on one at a time, you do not do both together. I am surprised the set did not contain a warning.
FWIW: If you bought the cheap stuff made in China from Autozone, expect the collar to loosen up after a year. Might want to go to NAPA and get a better brand.

Yes, they have to be seated all the way down the neck. The collar is now junk, you might be able to reuse the bearing if you use a bearing remover. They sell them at Northern tools. Though considering you probably pressed it on crooked, I would remove it and start fresh.
