Went to radio shack to buy the resistors for the coon mod 10k to 14.7k. Can you believe that they were actually sold out? I live in a small town and the next radio shack or anything close to them that would carry the resistors is almost an hour away. I just wanted everyone to feel my pain. Looks like I have to wait till the end of next week to get it done. This bites. I wanted some smoke for the weekend..........LOL
I guess I missed the evoloution of the c00nhunterjoe resistor mod. Why is wiring it up in series better?
Also, I've been out of town a bunch the last couple of weeks....did you ever figure out if the resistor was causing the "fall on it's face" syndrom your truck was having?
i'm still not 100% sure, i am borrowing my buddies NGS to get some good live pids and do some real testing, but i think i may have a weak pump, shes all origonal at 228 and change, the ipr duty cycle should tell me for sure. all i need is the scanner.
as for wiring in series, to make a long story short, electricty is lazy, it will always follow the path of least resistance, the old way wires it in parralell allowing a second path(hence the better perf using a 5k instead of a 10 or 15k) the voltage doesnt all go throught the resistor the old way, using the series method you force the voltage to take its normal path through the icp first, then go through the resistor and drop the volts that teh pcm sees allowing the oil to get raised even more then before. my trucks runs its best on the 14.7 but some guys have a 15.6 and even an 18k installed an love it now. after hearing the 18k i am leaning more towards a dying pump in my truck but need the scanner to confirm. to give you an idea check out the smoke i get just revving it up. its a shame it was so windy http://youtube.com/watch?v=GYp0dCvf-Yc
it will act goofy with the chip in or out. i will run both ways with the ngs, i can calculate the pid based on actual volts and read volts when the 22k goes in, as for the supechip i have no clue what that does to the infered reading to the pcm icp tables, my NGScapade willl be resistor only for usable data but i am curious to see what it does to the ipr reading with both installed
i will post as soon as i get it.... this weekend is shot, saturday i'm installing a driveway and sunday is my b-day party so not much truck work gonna be done. will get a cool picture of the truck towing a skid loader though
