Three Gorges Dam

I remember watching this being built on the History channel. Looks like they're having a few problems.

A part of me, just a little mind you, feels bad for them. I know what it is like to try and to fail. It is (was) a huge endeavour.

I wonder how many displaced villagers/villages, ancient sites, fertile soil, etc.
were lost because of that dam.

Progress, huh!?

Probably too much lead in the dam.

Well, they're actually admitting this -- probably, as noted, because they can't really hide it.

However, this might mean that the government is actually a little more responsive to the people than thery previously were. Probably because evil capitalism has taken root.

That's for the better. The other hopeful sign is that now they are apparently planning to do something about it.

Sounds like a little silver lining...

This word "catastrophe" is not the word you like to see when used in the same sentence as "dam", that is for sure. I hope it at least delivers on the electrical output.
