I currently have a 3" down pipe. I have seen a few post about 3 1/2" My question is - Anybody have a 4" and if so, did you bend it yourself or purchase it. Is the SD dp have the same bends the obs trucks? Any problems except the firewall? I'm looking for some feedback.....
Most DP's are 3" then change to 3 1/2" after there is enough to fit. A 4" DP would require major firewall modification. Once the pipe gets past the cross member you can use just about any size you want. Some are running 5". Not sure about getting that over the axle though.
My AFE 4in turbo back exhaust came w/ a 3in - 3.5in - 4in dp. I mated the bottom of the AFE dp w/ the top of the Banks dp as it had an EGT bung. Installed easy and works great. The whole AFE system was easy to install and sounds great.
I had a 4" on my mind. My thinking was a 4" would only be 1/2" closer to the cab (or am I way off course) which doesnt sound like too much of an issue. I figured a port a power would do the trick. But I did not know if the SD pipes had the same bend as the obs trucks. I might just buy one and try it, if not, e-bay it to the next guy.
I do believe that if you have a body lift it makes it possible with a little bending of the firewall to fit a 4". I had to bend my firewall just a little to fit the 3"-4" DP.
