I haven't been paying attention to the news so much and was wondering why diesel has gone up so much over the last 2-3 weeks? It cost's more than super unleaded here in maryland. What gives?

Greed, IMHO. I'm pissed that the BD guys are following it. No cost break to running bio at all -- in fact, I can get dino cheaper at certain places. You'd think that they'd seriously capture some market share if they dropped it 10-20c/gal...

They absolutely would. If I could find it for cheaper around here, I would run it and miss my smoke. My buddy and I built a vegetable processor on the back of a trailer he has but have bothe been kind of scared to try it. I think if we cut it 50/50 with dino and wash it down real good first we should be alright, but neither one of us wants to be the guinea pig.

Fuel has a lot of things that make the price go up or down. That we are coming into a cold season could be it. That we have a war going on, could be part of it too.

Well, the "No blood for oil" and "Biodiesel: No war required" need to be paid for. They know as long as they fly those banners and people are stupid enough to pay for it, why not?

Well, diesel comes from the same crude as gasoline and it is less refined than gasoline, so why has the price of gasoline gone down during the same time that diesel has gone up?

The price increase is due to the manufactures trying to meet the home heating oil demand. The heating oil supply is just about met so we should start seeing a lower price in the fuel prices soon.

At this point, I wish we *WOULD* get a little love for our efforts in the way of oil. We've had "cold seasons" and wars before. These ~$3.50/gal prices are just stupid, especially when regular old unleaded is ~$2.59 here in North Texas. I haven't seen it at ~$3.50 here, but I have seen it edging closer & closer to $3.10/gal. Still 50c higher than gas per gallon.

Sorry, but it's just greed -- the BS about supply & demand is just that. The oil companies are making RECORD PROFITS!! Why, because we're paying RECORD PRICES!! I'm all for a free economy, but not price gouging.

Okay.... ///RANT MODE OFF/// Sorry...

It's a mental game. Think about it... if they (Oil Companies) raise the prices to $4.00 a gallon, we'd still have to pay it. We are dependent on it and they know it. So once we get used to paying $4.00 a gallon for awhile, they drop the price to $3.75, now we're thinking we're getting a deal. It's a dumb game that most people don't even know they're playing... Today people think $2.75 is a good price. But I doubt they did a year ago. (Yes, #2 is $3.14/gal around here this morning)

BUT that's just my opinion...

Because you have failed in your basic math classes. More product, more profit. They have sold RECORD AMOUNTS too. They have kept it at 10% profit margin or less.

Get your econobox while you can. Fuel prices are going to do nothing but increase as the years go by.

When you go buy your econobox, tell them that you want aklim's share.

The choice is yours.
When fuel approaches $6.00 per gallon I am going to be grateful for my VW Rabbit and it's 45 mpg.

Check out Smart. http://www.smartusa.com/ I've seen them for years in Germany. They'll get 40+ MPG when introduced in 2008. Not a bad little car AND I (being 6'1") fit in one!! Not to mention you can get one for $13k... Did I mention they're made by Mercedes??

I saw them down in St. Lucia last month. My only question is which do you want to be in when the two collide, my F250 Crew Cab 4x4 diesel or that thing? I know I know, they built a safety cage in it. Physics is physics though, 6800 pounds unloaded vs, what 1800 pounds? Inertia is a beotch....
