Awesome, I was able to actually set the timing this time and it runs great, power and idels great. They should update the manuals with recent pictures because the one in my Haynes manual doesn't look like the one in the second pic. it's round in the book.
So quick quesiton... For a while now my truck has been turning over REALLY fast when I start it. That is, I can barely squeeze in 1 crank before the motor turns over and fires up, even when I haven't started it for SEVERAL DAYS! I always assumed this meant my motor was super healthy but now I'm wondering if it means my timing is far too advanced. Is that usually the case?

Haha I'm going to as soon as I get back to my moms. I tried last weekend but found out my dad's OLD OLD timing light didn't work afterall, so I'm gonna have to borrow one from a friend. Just wanted to hear someone tell me my timing is way off so I have something to look forward to
Too much advance will increase cranking time, but you have to have quite a bit of advance before that would happen. I like the truck to start with just a quick spin of the starter, and I worry when it doesn't fire right up like you describe.
