Y'all Made Me Do It
Thanks for all the great info here guys, but y'all made me do it.
I had ordered the SuperChips 1805 for my truck, but I just got off the phone with Jody and will be recieving a 4 position chip tomorrow. I am not into the the speed but tow a lot so I got a 40 and 60 hp tow, and an 80 economy along with the stock setting.
So After tomorrow evening Truck will be as follows:
2002 7.3, 4x4, C/C, short bed, 4" lift, 285/75R 16's, 4 position DP chip, 6637(until the Afe gets here), MBRP 4" turbo back exhaust. Soon to come are the zoodad, and the ccv reroute.
You guys are causing me to much work haha
How do I make a donation to the site???????????
Thanks
Rick

1 = Stock
2 = 40 Tow
3 = 60 Tow
4 = 80 Econ
5 = High Idle (which i Should've put in spot 1, but oh well)
Plus 0 = No-Start
You've made a wise decision!! You won't be disappointed.

If you drive conservatively empty and rarely load the engine down, no there is no need for gauges. However if you ever put the engine under a significant load, especially with a trailer, then i'd get gauges. The exhaust should keep your EGT low enough that you wont have to worry about anything driving around normally like a "citizen".

Checked out the guages miller-feed (Rick)(me too) ha. Think I will order the 3 gauge set on the pillar.
How about some feed back on this question- I put in the 6637 filter yesterday, did the zoodad today, I like the set up and the noise is not bad, I have an AFE Stage II dry filter kit coming but it is on back order so who knows when it will get here,
Pros and cons of just canceling the Afe and leaving the 6637 in????? is the AFE really any better in filtration other than paying for a name brand?????
Thanks
Rick

Considering the extensive discussion lately on air filtering, I'd be interested in your take when the AFE goes in. In one of the discussions, the 6637 beat the AFE on they dyno hands down. Do let us know!!!
And since you said you tow, get the gauges. Boost, Tranny Temp, & EGT are the common ones. The boost is good to have because you can overspool the turbo with the custom tunes, and it can help with troubleshooting if you have problems down the road.

Thanks Joe, I am really considering just leaving the 6637 in and save the $$$ on the AFE to order the gauges with. I tow a 3 horse bumper pull trailer and everynow and then a friends gooseneck, both trailers are all aluminum and the total weight horses and gear is less than 10,000, however when you start pulling hills that can really work a motor so the gauges would be good to have.
BTW, are you active duty???? My Dad was a career man 22 yrs in AF Supply, he retired a Major, Guess I disappointed him, I spent 3 in the Army- Combat Heavy Equimpent Operator 14th Engineer Battalion, came out an E-5 SGT, but that was back in the late 70's

Air National Guard. Just got off "active duty", though. I did 5 months at Tyndall AFB down near Panama City, FL plus 2 more months locally after being laid off. I just started my new job this week at Samsung (cellular Field Test Engineer -- yes, I'm like that Verizon guy and I **CAN** hear you!! ). In fact, I think I'll change my avitar soon as I'm done here...
Anyway, I did four years active duty Army ('88 - '92). They sent me to Central Italy to work on microwave radio links for almost 3 1/2 years. Absolutely loved it!! Went back on a visit back in '98. When I got off active duty, I thought I was completely done with the military, but I found a Air Guard Combat Comm unit 10 minutes away from my house (unit was on Patrick AFB, I lived in Melbourne, FL) and I fell in love with it. Been doing that since '95. And hey, at least you made it to NCO -- everyone knows they're the backbone of the military (ALL services)!! I have a few more years before I can punch my retirement ticket, but now I'd like to make E-8 before I do. My original goal was make E-7, but now that I did, I have plenty of time to get to E-8...
Back to the subject, 10k isn't something to sneeze at -- you'll definitely load it down if you get into any long hills. I'd get the gauges for sure.
