no first gear?
I hope someone has an answer to this one. My 1966 F250 has the MX "cruise-o-matic" threee speed trans and last week I borrowed my buddies boat and discovered that I cannot get it to use first gear. It works fine otherwise. I have pulled the pan and the fluid was clean and there was nothing in the pan. I have pulled the valve body and one at a time checked all the passages and check ***** and nothing seems to be stuck. I cannot find a good manual for this trans and of course the shop I callled just wanted to completely rebuild it.
Could there be something simple that is wrong with this?
I did try both of the shifter posistions and it made no difference. It just won't go into first.

I have a similar problem with my C6, if I understand you correctly. When I go to first the truck wont move it acts like somethings locked up but all the other gears work fine. I wish I had an answer for you but I myself am waiting for one, any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the post, but no, that is not the case. The truck always starts off in 2nd. It is like it is stuck in the shift mode that only uses 2nd and 3rd. Even pulling it in to low or putting it on the other drive indicator it still only uses 2nd and 3rd.
