i found an 02 single cab 7.3 6speed xlt it has 90k on it and is great condition no dents or scratchs or leaks there askin $17,500 for it is this a good buy
12 months ago, I purchased my 2002 XLT Crew Cab 7.3 for $17,000. It had 114,000 miles at the time, exceptionally clean, no dents, just a couple of tiny paint chips, no scratches, leather interior, sprayed in bed liner, almost new tires, and tow mirrors.
In the end what only matters is how bad do YOU want it. What might seem high to some might not to you if you really want the truck.
A little over a year ago I paid 21k for my '02 Crew 4x4. It had 61,000 miles on it. Tow mirrors, brand new tires, already had the pillar gauges installed, Sirius radio, some hook up deal for wireless internet (haven't used that yet) plus all of the options available. A couple of guys said I paid too much. To me I didn't because as soon as I saw the truck I wanted it and pursued it until it was mine. I almost chickened out but my wife forced me to buy it as she had been listening to me whine about having to have it.
These trucks seem to hold their value at some unreasonably high level and don't seem to take any mileage hits for having around 100k on them. You could find a better deal on an 02 truck, but the question comes down to how well does this truck match what you want.
The demand still seems to be there so it's really a matter of supply. If you find the exact truck you're looking for, and there's not a lot of them to choose from in your area then I'd say it's worth a little bit more. If your not picky about the truck and there's plenty to choose from you might wait and look for the best deal.
If the truck is overpriced, it's not by a whole lot.

Oh, that is great. Despite being the better option with the manual 4x4, you can use that in your favor to get the price lower saying you really like the shift on the fly when really that is a POS, but it commands more money. So work it down.
How does it drive? Look at the used PSD buyers guide if you get a chance.

If the price seems a bit high to you offer him 16K for it and see what he says assuming 16k seems to be a better number too you.
Remember the worst thing that can happen if you make an offer is he takes it. If he says no you're right where you are now trying to figure out if you want to pay what he's asking if he says yes though you have to do something ie pony up 16k for the truck.
Unless the seller knows what he has. If I owned that truck I would be asking more for it. And not selling it until the price was met. These trucks will not go down in value with thier reputation for reliability being better than the newer ones and the new trucks exceeding $40k.
Six speed 4x4 forged connecting rods no ESOF??? That's a good price IMO and I would just pay him and drive away.

I got the same truck almost except an '01 and was an XL with 41000 miles 2 years ago for $17,500. Ended up trading uo to supercab with auto for family. I would try and get it a little lower too. Tell em you really wanted an automatic for bargaining power. In the end it does come down to how bad tou want it. Good Luck.
