2-4 yikes! that's 25-30 % less than what I've been told is the norm (14) mpg.
can't say anything about 6.6 milage, never drove one and probly will never
my 7.3 with 4.10s gets about the same as your chev a little better towing at 9+
towing 10k at 85+
7.3 with 3.73s some get 20+ empty interstate
I get 18 mixed if I stay at or below 2000 rpm bout 14.5 city
no, stealer is locating one now. 4.10's everywhere, 3.73 hardly out there.
I have a 01 D-max now with 373, gets abou 16.75 hwy empty, 14-15 city.
pullin my 5er- 8-9 at 75ish mph.
I don't think you can get a 350 drw 3.73.350 drw have 4.10 or 4.30. 4.30 is the tow boss package. With the new 6.4 the mpg are not that good untill the engine gets some miles on it.Check out the 6.4
forums in the diesel section. The 350 drw is a beast i have the 6.0 drw...

There is a pretty good article in this months Trailer Life magazine that did a comparison using a Ford PSD, Dodge Cummins and a Jeep gasser. It gave a real good explanation as to the effects of speed, weight, the engines torque curve, etc. and there effects on mileage. There are alot of factors in play other than just gearing. I agree with the statements though that you will probably see a real world difference of about 2 to 3 mpg between the 3.73 and 4.10's if driven identically.

I'm surprised it would be so much, My dad has a 05 F-150 with 3.73 gears, he never pulls anything and only gets .5-1mpg less than the his friends F-150 with 3.55's, and they both drive like old men so there driving habbits a pretty much the same, a neither one of them hauls anything more than golf clubs. Both trucks are C/C S/B with 5.4L same year, and similiar mileage.
