When i went out to start the truck the other day it wouldn't start for anything. I cranked and cranked and got nothing. Thought the batteries may be low since it sits all week while I am at school, charged them up and still no start. It seems to crank plenty fast since it has a new aftermarket starter. No check eng light, no codes either. could it be the HPOP draining while it sits all week? Same thing happened last week, but it eventully it fired up and ran fine all weekend. it never had this problem before(but it was driven regularly). The truck is also quite a dog and always has been. How do i check the HPOP? Any help would be great.
tried plugging it in?
probably a faulty gp system is to blame. could be oil but save that for later along with the go fast stuff until your truck will start.
the pump level is checked by removing the plug right on top of the resevoir, its an allen head, cant miss it, should be about 1\4 inch from the top filled with oil
Watch your battery voltage. I had bad batteries a couple years back. The motor would crank all day and sound like it was cranking fine. However, If the voltage drops to low(11 volts I think) the computer won't ever fire the injectors. Just a thought. Good luck.
Edit:watch for white smoke. If you see white smoke you are getting fuel and the glow plug system is probably the problem. No white smoke and you are not getting fuel for some reason.
Had a no start a couple weeks ago. Pretty much same conditions are you listed SS. Mine was the the hpop leve. Check that and make sure those batts are nice a charged.
a typical cranking drop is 10 volts, and the scan tool will shut off at 9 volts. the pcm will still run on a dying battery down to 7-8 volts, been there
GP's should be good, did them and valve covers this time last year. (This site helped me there too) I didn't try plugging in either though. I'll check the voltage drop on the batts too. NO white smoke either, i checked that and figured something was allowing fuel or the injectors to fire. The IDM is brand new, maybe two weeks old, so that should be good. I will check the HPOP. If its low I should just fill it up to 1/4 inch below plug? If it is leaking whats my next step?
Thanks for all the help guys!
I'll let you know what I find, I'm sure I will need some more help.
