I have a 2004 ford f150 fx4 4x4 with 97,000.00 miles some times while im driving it it sounds as if their is a leaf rake being dragged behind the truck.
while under a load or pulling my lawn trailer its moore noticeable. it almost sounds like the 4x4 drive shafts have not fully disengaged on the front left side.
can any one help? the truck is a automatic with overdrive as well. but when you put it in 4 wheel high the sound goes away.
Yup, I have the same problem, and have had it 3 times now. I'm so sick of it I'll just drive it until the snow comes and then I'll get it fixed. The solenoid is only 50$. Make sure your vaacume lines are routed the right way and aren't rubbing on anything.
ok guys, I traced the vacume lines back to the firewall and found a little round
electronic piece with one wire conector going into the top of it. I unpluged the thing and the noise went away.Is this the selonoid that needs replaced? it is located on the passenger side firewall near the top right hand corner. your help is greatly appreciated.can this item be purchased at a parts store or is it a dealer only item?.
