2007 FX4 clunking sound

2007 FX4 clunking sound
Hey guys. I have a friend with an '07 FX4. Just recently he discovered a clunking noise when he grabs the bed and shakes the truck side to side. It is on the driver side at the back tire area. Is this something to be worried about possibly? The passenger side does not do it. He also said he only seems to hear it when he shakes the truck, but not while driving. Here is a video he made of the sound. At the 35 second mark of the video you can really hear it well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. Today he jacked the rear of the truck up to check for play in the axle and turns out both sides clunk. Both sides have about 1/8 inch of play. Driver side one may have a bit more play. I'm guessing this isn't normal? He told me he can't hear a clunk or a roaring noise going down the road. I once had a hub bearing go bad on my truck and it made a huge roaring noise. Would this be the same way or no? Here is another video of that.
