Mods=MPG increase

I have an early 99 F250 7.3. A couple of weeks ago I installed the 6637 filter mod, trashed the K&N and also completed the CCV mod. I use my truck to run around town, go back and forth to college. I went three weeks before I filled up for a road trip last Saturday. After figuring out the mpg. I got 16 mpg in town driving after the mods. Before the mods 13 to 13.5 mpg. My truck is completely stock, automatic, 4x4, 185,000 miles and has only the two mods listed above. I took the truck on a road trip on Saturday. Haven't yet filled up. Do that tomorrow. In the past I averaged 20 - 21 mpg on road trips. I'll post the results tomorrow. Just thought to share.

That is very good mpg. I am getting around 16 mpg combined. But with my mods its hard to keep the peddle on the top half of its travel.

....it is equally diffficult to keep the "rate of travel" within environmentally concious limitations!!

Update: I just finished filling up. Calculated the MPG and on the road trip I averaged 21.2 mpg up from 20.3 before the mods. This road trip was thru the mountains and I tried to keep the rpm's below 2,000.....

Those are great numbers!! I got close to 19 once, but that was only because I came up the back way between Mobile to Jackson on the way to Dallas from Panama City, FL and HAD to keep it below 2000 RPMs. I tried to keep it at 70mph/2000 on I-20 the rest of the way, but wasn't very successful...

I know what you mean, Joe. I can't seem to be capable of staying below 75 myself. I do manage, though, to keep my >75 events limited in frequency, but I have settled into just deciding to run at 75 and take my MPG at 17-17.5, with an occasional 18.
