I just hired on with an outfit that gave me a two hour OSHA safety training class. We have to wear our hard hats and safety glasses whenever we are on the job site, even when we are in our pick ups!! I can definately relate to this!! Ha! Ha! Ha! I should print it off and take it to work!!

I can relate to this too. We have to wear safety glasses because of the production machines at work. But the thing is...we work in a completely different area of the warehouse, seperated by 2 walls none-the-less.

I spent 8 hours in an OSHA training class to learn you don't attach a bunjee cord to a yo-yo. BTW, I do not go anywhere near areas that require fall protection.

Actually, the sad part is that for something to become an osha regulation, someone has already done it...and probably died doing it. Kinda goes along with the line "Hey Y'all, watch this!"

If we didn't have OSHA, I wouldn't have a job! All my employees are required to have 4 hours of safety training, but they don't have to wear their hard hats in the truck lol! Actually, a lot of that stuff is insurance driven. Your WC insurance is cheaper if you have monthy safety meetings, ongoing training, etc.....

And who is the first organization people call to rat out their employer when they want you to do something that isn't safe?

OSHA has a place in the workplace. Some of the regulations may seem onerous at times but there is no such thing as too safe.

My company isn't subject to OSHA regulations but I sometimes wish it was because our own Safety department are a bunch of clowns.

We just had some kid (worker), here in the Bay Area, not wear his safety respirator while working on some sort of circuit board cleaning solution.

He got dizzy and fell into a bat of a solution of sulfuric acid.

His dad got worried that he didn't come home from his shift, so he went to his
son's work place and discovered his sons body in the bat.

OSHA is big where I work. One of our shop safety guys has a sticker on his tool box that says "if you think OSHA is a small town in wisconsin, you are in trouble!!"
