Hey everyone,
I've got a question for anyone. I just bought a 391 FT, casting D4TE-1, at an auction for $5.00, I'm in the tear down now. What kind of performance parts are there for this? I just gonna build it to resale or put into a 4x4 later. I like the stronger bottom-end it has.

Mainly right now I'm looking into the induction and vavle-train for it. Just to see what's available.

Any help would be great,

391 FT

Anything that works on a FE 352, 360, 390, etc., should work on it just fine. Ideally, you should replace the heads and intake with FE parts, which will perform much better in light duty applications than the FT ones.

the 391's oil pump drive was larger.
391's has forged steel cranks too...

will a 391 crank fit in a 352,360,390 block? Is the end of the crank any larger where the harmonic balancer goes? Thanks

391 FT

The 391 FT crank is not interchangeable with the FE crank. The snout is a larger diameter on the 391 crank. It can be turned down, however, so that it will fit in a FE block.
