That's awesome man, it's amazing how you can do so well with just hybrid injectors, studs, with stock oil and just a big turbo! How about a hand for the guy who does the tuning, anyone want to guess?

You're a powerstroke legend Kevin, i tell ya. You just need more fuel.....

Dan i remember back in a vid he had some CPS problems and the truck was cutting out just like that.

I have a question. Right at the start of the pull, (and I've seen this before) your stacks make a pop sound and the black smoke clears to about 50%.
What's that pop?
I've heard that when I really nail my truck too. Not sure what it is, but it hasn't hurt anything (YET). Scared the bejeebers out of me the first time... I was thinking wastegate popping open (my wastegate line is pulled) or something. I would think the smoke would get thicker if that happened, though. Didn't notice a drop in boost, but I haven't been looking right at the gauge when it does it. Boots are all tight, too. I'd like to hear some others' take on this...

Tenn it's one of the new Pro Dry filters. No oil!
Kwikk The IDM can't recharge fast enough so the pcm starts cutting pulse width. Running out of fuel.
Here are some vids from Smithton PA. Not sure if I posted the before or not.

1st hook (dropped)
2nd hook
pull off

It's defaintely an injection/electrical issue. Just the other day i was rolling some smoke in Park for some diesel buddies who said my truck can't really make that much smoke, and i mashed the pedal and got the same result. Happened a few times. I guess they just can't respond that quick?

Kris I thought it was the cam sensor. I have found the problem to be limitations of electronics. The guys that fuel higher are running huge B codes and big nozzels.

As of now there is no "fix". Large amounts of fuel, big injectors, big nozzels and big oil can get you more rpms. Basically over fuel.

So it's at least a $4,000 fix. I'll hold off for now...

The real problem then is more fuel, more cyl pressures and more breakage. I may be under powered but I'm finally getting the truck to work better.

You do damn well with what you have Kevin. Possibly, just maybe, could upping the IDM voltage to 140v help recharge the IDM sooner? The thing that holds us 7.3's up is our damn injection systems.

I have the modded IDM. Not much more I can do without huge amounts of fuel. Not sure I'm willing to take the chance.

Don't want to go Garden-hosing the fuel in the engine, bad stuff happens. Did jody live tune your truck? What size nozzles are you running? I believe a set of B-codes and a big oil setup to up the ICP will help you alot by raising IP without too much more fuel..not going overboard. What kind of ICP do you see now?

Kris the injectors are an off the shelf set of hybrids flowing 230 or so cc's of fuel. ICP never drops below 2900 and I've seen peeks at 4000. The tuning is also nothing special. No live tuning and the tunes are three years old. No matter what you do when you add more fuel to make power you will increase pressures. If not your just blowing smoke.

John the twin IDM's have been a talked about for a while. I know of nothing being usable yet.
