Well I went to Ford toda to purchase new bushings for my air pump on my 2000 EB... In true big business fashion it was going to cost me $86 plus tax for the whole "bracket kit", because according to the dealer they don't sell just the bushings, and evidently those brackets must be fragile...NOT!!! So, 1 trip to NAPA later, I bought 2 rubber bushings for $8, a little thick, but sliced them in half, used what was left of the old ones to keep the gap similar, put it all back together, and what do you know, no more loud vibrations and runs like a top. Still sounds like an air pump, but much better than before. If anybody knows of a real bushing kit for this that I could buy I would really appreciate it. Thanks for the help JL!!
My Eddie Bauer 5.4 '99 Exp. has been sagging to passenger side and the leveling system runs alot. What do you think the problem is? The air bag?
Thanks in advance.

Probably a leak. If you are technical should be easy to fix.
Any sources for replacement LLS air bags aside from dealer?
Hi,
I will be rebuilding the front suspension on my 2000 Expy EB 5.4L 4x2 and have the same problem with the compressor sounding too loud. It works fine, comes on when key is moved to On or right after being started and shuts off within 30 sec or so. I'll try the bushing kit mentioned earlier here. Last time it was in I was told by dealer that aside from a ball joint going out up front that one of the LLS airbags shows signs of cracking and may or will leak soon, I looked at it and it is cracked but not leaking yet. Does anyone have a source aside from a dealer for the replacement airbags? I've searched on here many times and it seems that whenever I do perform a search for almost anything the results brought up are not what I'm looking for, I'm even careful w/my keywords too.

There are several companies out there selling replacement bags, compressors, etc. I've used parts from http://www.arnottindustries.com and have been pleased with the products and the pricing. I've heard good about http://www.strutmasters.com too,so there are options other than the dealer parts.

Excellent advice on this thread, JL, I'll give you props in a minute...
I'd second the Arnotts recomendation, they are friendly helpful people to boot. I wish I'd either asked the right questions or looked in the right places, as I ended up doing a hack job on my noisy compressor: putting extra bolts on to replace the bushing/rivet failure, which made it even louder. Finally put a whole new compressor in, even tho the old one worked just fine.
We tow pretty heavy and have a 700# tongue weight trailer that's on the back regularly. The compressor bushing and one plastic fitting is all that's failed and we love our LLS...
This thread is the closest I've come to maybe finding what my issue is....if it is an issue.
I have the LLS, and I have the normal loud vibrating sound when the compressor runs, but that is an easy fix. What I have not been able to figure out is this clicking sound, mentioned here. I still have not found what it could be. My Dad mentioned it may be the fuel tank releasing pressure after being driven, but it will do it even when the truck is running, so that can't be it.
Can anyone help me stop this clicking....if it should be stopped.

Just the sensors in the air suspension working, not to worry unless you hear air or the compressor running a lot. Its for the air sensor when you turn the vehical off, should drop 2" when done The rise to normal when started. Randy N.
Typically-the pump will stop working on and off as it's failing, then it'll stop altogether. The LLS system is not a bad system-it just has it's failures from time to time, and alot of them are from poor or no maintenance.

JL - What maintenance should we be doing with the LLS? Even when I first bought my truck and taking it to Ford for service I do not recall them ever checking or servicing it.
Also, are the shocks from Arnott better than Monroe?

Basically, keeping the system sealed by replacing any damaged lines and leaking components. Introduction of moisture in to the system is the beginning of the end for the solenoids and compressor.
JL
That is maintenance, whether you like it or not. If you don't want to deal with that sort of maintenance, then don't buy a vehicle with an air suspension system.
