I have 3 fe blocks to choose from on are tore down yet but one is a 353 cast 70 360, one is a 360 1973 which has ribbing along bottom of the block, and third is a 105 390 block from a 75 f150. is there a preferance on the blocks which to use?
what i am dooing is putting a 410 crank(200.00) from autozone with bearings, and building a stroker for my 71 f250 high torque low rpm motor.
The 105 block has reinforced main webbing and more than likely, thicker cylinder walls. Are you sure autozone has a 410 crank for $200?? Have you bought it yet or did they just say they could get one.
bouht it last night from a guy thatworks with me in the Navy, we works there part time and got thecrank for me. came fresh .010/.010
with bearings also 200.00 out the door.
you got a very good deal and I'd see how many more you could get fresh machined with bearings you can probably sell them for 400-450 on Ebay I'd take a drill bit index and see which block can consistantly have the smallest drill bit fit between the bores through the freeze plug holes, whichever one has the smallest drill bit fit most likely has the most metal on the cylinders.
