I will guess, he has a NV5600 and a CTD on propane?

Second guess, Three on the tree?

He could be talking about his Cummins Turbo Diesel 6 speed, or some other truck.

I don't presume anything anymore.

The OP always needs to post the most information they can about the vehicle in question in the very FIRST POST

Especially when they want vacuum diagrams

You can Replace the shifter collar.

Here is one listed at NPD

7228 COLLAR,
Steering Column Upper

F100-350 78-79 AT, fixed column.......................................... F-7228-4 $76.22

Jeff's Bronco Graveyard

http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-...__auto_oem.htm

If it is Non-tilt column you don't have to remove the column to do it.

My suggestion:
1) purchase the part
2) Prime it with black primer
3) paint it with Mazda paint colour "Sparkling black"

http://www.paintscratch.com/cgi-bin/makepaint2.cgi

Let it sit for a few weeks for the paint to harden before installing.

Lay it on a furnace vent to aid drying.

It is identical to the original Ford paint.
