I have a 92 F150 with the inline. I want a little more flow so i figured i could either go new cat or who new system. That way i wouldnt have to cut the old cat off ect. But these new systems only have one cat. As far as I can tell I have two. Does this make much differance on emissions tests? What systems would you guys and gals recommend?
ok, perfect thats what i need to know. Right now i go from the cat to a 3" aluminized pipe, go 3 feet from the cat and ninties right in front of the rear tire. No muffler its open. Sounds like a tractor at low RPM so I was hopin that with with one less cat it would flow better and get a lil more bass from the engine. anyway, thanks fellas
What engine do you have? Right now on my 351 the exhaust dumps right after the first cat, rumbles like a hot rod. I love it, sounds like a real muscle car but man the cab drone is BAD. I'm putting on longtube headers soon then I'll route through 1 Magnaflow cat and dump it out the back. Should be nice and loud but more so behind me, instead of under me
My new exhaust system was really loud inside the vehicle as well, but I fixed that this weekend. Just to recap.. longtubes, custom 2.5" Y into 3" magnaflow cat and a 3" Super40. Flowmasters literature says the 50 series is much quieter that the Super40, so thats what I ordered. But it made very little difference when I just swapped it into the same location as the Super40, which was just in front of the rear axle. Still a heavy drone from the drivers seat.. I didn't even leave the driveway. Out come the wrenches again and I move it up just behind the cat, close to 3 feet forward. Problem solved. It makes a low rumbly sound at lighter throttle, and barks when floored, but there's no resonance inside. Perfect.
As mentioned above its an Inline. So no muscle car sound gana come from this truck, thats what the 65 F100 is for. Anyway Im not looking for an exhaust system, just a cat system.
