There is a picture of the part number tag on the new radiator, it's on the drivers side, side tank just below the top. (kind of a squeeze to get a picture).
Yeah, I'm guessing that the management doesn't want the website listed so they x'd it out. Someone else just emailed me and I told them what it is. Send me email to acuffgt(No Email Addresses In Posts!) and I'll do the same for you.
Greg, check out the Hot Sheets on the FordTraining website....They have written a sheet in response to the radiator issue....dated July of this year....telling everyone the smaller radiator will do the job........From what i can see on the spec sheets ....the maximum tow weight for the 1" radiator is 4000LBS.....Now what do we do?.....Perry

My input is an argument I was prepared to make if it came down to it. I was told that I was purchasing an upgraded (read that better than the normal one) radiator when I ponied up the cash for the tow package. They owe me what they committed to me: a better radiator, regardless of whether or not the stock one will do the job. Maybe I want to drive around in the desert, in the middle of summer, with the AC on towing a camp trailer. For that, an "extra good" radiator gives me peace of mind. For ME, if given the option of having my money refunded for the tow package, or having the equipment I thought I was getting, I'd rather have the equipment. I have already spent the money and am at peace with the value I was supposed to receive for that money. I'd also point out that I'm a loyal customer, who is about to become very disenchanted, to the extent of never patronizing Ford again (no more $35k top of the line truck purchases out of my pocket), unless I'm shown the customer service I expected when I trusted them with my purchase. Frankly, I'm surprised your dealership isn't stepping up to the plate regardless of Ford's position, because I know of two really good dealerships in my area who have replaced the radiators. These both will get my repeat business, and I will recommend them for service as well as sales to anyone I meet. Their Good-Will will pay huge dividends in the long run.
Sorry to hear there's more anxiety being created by Ford. You'd think they'd learn how important good customer service image is after the terrible issues they've had with Explorer tragedies. To me it's simple: if the dealer salesman communicated that the radiator was an upgrade supplied with the tow package, and since it's obvious many customers bought with that impression, they take responsibility for their mistake, whether it was salesforce training, an error in the specification, or an error in the build orders, whichever one it was, to the satisfaction of the customer.
If in the end you are not successful in convincing them to do the right thing, and the expense and uncertainty of a lawsuit isn't worth it, your cost if you find that you want better cooling someday is to buy a better radiator. If it came to that, of course I'm sure you will have determined to boycott Ford products in the future. And in trying to stiff a customer for a couple bucks, they will have lost more by a long shot.
Greg, have you or others you have spoken to found that it is JUST the radiator that is incorrect? What about the about the transmission cooler? Kim
I've read that someone here didn't get anything from the tow package (other than the hitch and wiring I suppose), which I think included the wrong shocks. I had my dealer inspect my truck when I took it in for the radiator replacement. I checked the battery myself, just as a quick check. As far as they report, everything is there. I'd really like to get a good shop manual that has some identifiers for the different levels of parts so I could be sure myself. It's on my wish list.
I recently Purchased A Econoline Van called "Traveler".It has the tow package. I checked the radiator out and you should see the size of this thing, it's huge!!!!! I do believe its the radiator that should be in my 01 Supercrew. The radiator in the Van is the thickness that it should be.....Unbelievable!!!
Just thought you may be interested in this if you hadn't read the news!! This was shown on the BlueOvalNews site and also had a small article in yesterday's USA Today. Looks like the complaints have started to have an effect!

Program #: 01B83. Certain 2000 and 2001 F150's with Heavy Duty Electoral/Cooling group
2000 and 2001 Ford F150 owners have had some of their demands met. Ford will issue a recall for F150 models equipped with the optional Heavy Duty Cooling/Electric package groups 531 and 535.
Ford has been taking heavy heat from F150 owners. Ford's refusal to address consumer's concerns has even prompted noted law firm Milberg-Weiss (article) to file a class action suit against Ford. Finally, Ford has relented.
Reason for the recall (in Ford's own words)
"The sales literature produced for the affected vehicles contained an error. The error incorrectly described F-150 vehicles with the Heavy Duty Electrical/Cooling Group option as including an "upgraded" radiator. Engineering specifications require super-cooling capability for these vehicles and an "upgraded" radiator was not necessary to meet these requirements. In the interest of customer and dealer satisfaction, Ford Motor Company has decided to take action in the form of Customer Satisfaction Program 01B83. All sales literature in print and on the Internet was corrected on May 5, 2001."
Ford's customer satisfaction initiative (although forced) will offer consumers three options to resolve the issue.
• OPTION 1: $100 Check (sent directly to the customer) &endash; Valid for 60 days from the date of check issuance.
• OPTION 2: $500 Owner Loyalty Certificate (OLC) &endash; Valid until December 31, 2002 (Transferable only to family members in the owner's household). Lincoln models are excluded.
• OPTION 3: Radiator Modification &endash; Valid for 60 days from the date of voucher issuance. Ford will install a 36mm radiator instead of the incorrect 26mm currently installed.
The recall does have certain provisions. It excludes F-Series models with 7700lbs. payload capacity (option code 627) and only includes vehicles currently owned/leased by the original owner/lessee who purchased or leased their vehicle prior to May 5, 2001. Unsold vehicles are not eligible. The F150's being recalled were assembled at the following plants:
I called this number (F-150 Radiator Program HQ (800) 248-6674) today and was told that because I purchased my Super Crew after May 5th, that I would not get the radiator replaced even though it has the tow package. Apparently that is the date that they reprinted the sales literature.
I recently did have a dealer check my radiator. The dealer said it was the correct part. When I was surveyed on the phone (by the dealership), I politely explained that I think the service dept made a mistake when checking the part and that I planned to check with the dealer that sold me the vehicle.
Just last week I received a letter from Ford, apologizing and explaining that the HD radiator was a mistake and offering my choice of:
(1) A check for $100
(2) $500 off a new Ford (purchase or lease)
(3) Installation of the heavy-duty radiator with an explanation that
I need to mail back the enclosed card to Ford and I will be
contacted with scheduling for the service.
This is a very fair offer. I expect many others have (or will have) received the same thing in the mail.
Join the crowd!! Seems to me if our trucks were built with the wrong parts, they will still have the wrong parts in it regardless if it was sold on May 4th or November 14th!! Doesn't make any sense to me. If I paid for something I would like to have it, or get a refund! Guess we are "SCrew"ed
Keep on pushing!!! you people need to keep banding together against the big wigs who are trying to screw you!! keep pushing and you will get what you deserve. Let the Man know that you wont be screwed. My father is in the same boat as you all and he is calling consumer protection> I think that is a good start maybe you all should do that. Just dont sit down and accept that you are screwed. Get what you paid for and justly deserve.
