I have installed the 24" wipers on my truck as many on this site has done. For the first month or so, they work great, but after that, the one on the passenger side "skips" as it goes down the windsheild. The one on the drivers side doesn't, and never has. It will do it if it is raining pretty steadily out, or if I just spray the windsheild to clean it off. Do I need to go to a smaller wiper? Are they drying out from the heat of Southern NM, then losing their flexibility, and is that what is causing the "skipping"? Thanks for the advice guys!
I haven't switch over to the 24 inches but it seems like when wipers start skipping like you've described it is time to replace. Try another wiper and see if the skipping goes away.

The weird thing is I put them on, they work for about a month without skipping, then they start to skip. I replace them, and they work for about a month, then skip again. I am using Anco blades, which I used on my other truck and they would last for almost a year. Its gonna get expensive if I have to replace blades every month. Maybe I will try a different brand.
Have you waxed the windshild, used Rainex, or applied anything else to it recently? When car wax starts to deteriorate on the windshield, it will cause that.

I put Rain-X on it almost every other time I wash it.
I also used to Rain-X my old truck windsheild, not nearly as often as this one, and it never skipped.
I use rubbing alcohol on a soft pad to clean the rubber surfaces prior to installation and periodicaly, once a month, clean them with dry newsprint or a lint free disposable shop towel. Works for me.
When my wipers start skipping or streaking it's time to clean the windshield. I use a cleanser called Bon Ami.
Yes, a cleanser.
Wet the windshield, throw about 1 tablespoon of the cleanser on to the window, then sstart washing with a wet paper towl using a circular motion. You don't need a lot of pressure. The cleanser will cut through all of the bug goo, built up road crud and stuff. Keep the window wet until you are done. When you think you have covered it all, go back and do it again.
When completed, rinse well and inspect. Repeat if needed.
Not many people know this, but for the longest time GM repackaged Bon Ami and sold it as windshield cleaner. They might still do this.

I have always waxed all windows on my vehicles when I waxed the body. It made the windshield repell water very well. I have also used the same brand wax each time. However, the last time I waxed both vehicles, one of them started doing the same thing you are experiencing. Once I was able to see the wax was starting to release from the windshield, I used a bottle of 90% alchohol (not the 70%, but the kind used to sterilize needles) to remove it from the windshield and from the wiper blades. Once I was finished, the problem was gone.
It sounds like you are having the same thing happen from the Rain-X. Try cleaning the glass and the wiper blades and it will probably go away.
Wow, I just noticed this problem last week on my truck as well. (2 month old wipers) and 1 month since I used Rain-X. I'll try the alcohol cleansing as well. thanks!
