help please!
got a problem with my charging system not charging the batteries.put a new altenator night before last battery light went out and without warning it up and died this morning going to work.now im charging batteries as i type but NEED to find out whats going on here so I can get to work (customers you know).any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

The batts were previously drained by bad alternator, and as good as a new alternator is it would take a long while of sustained higher RPM to bring drained batts back to full charge. remember an alternator is just used to replace the juice you used from the batts at start up and to power low drain electronics

Well night before that warrantied the batts out so thier new.also charged the batts with a battery charger before work yeserday.left me on the side of the road this morning.got the truck home started charging so now its starting just fine.gonna charge some more but where to start looking?im not good with electrical.oh and no battery light after alt change or right now for that matter.thaks

gotta be a drain somewhere. If you have a multimeter put it across the battery posts with the truck off and see if you have power being drained off. Then start the truck and see if the alternator is actually charging. If your not good with this sort of thing or don't have the meter take it to a near by NAPA or Oriellys or CarQuest. Most of them will do a charging system test for you free of charge (hoping they can sell you something). If you don't have one of those near you try your local garage, most of them will probably check your charging system for 1/2 hours worth of shop rate. Good luck.

I Had Similar Problem With Bad Starts But Once It Was Running It Was Ok, It Didnt Start Sometimes Had To Try Twice. Turns Out One Of My Batts Were Bad And My Truck Was Strugling Trying To Start Using One. I Dug In The Pocket And Bought Two Brand New Batts....problem Fixed.

the alt was a reman from checker I think it was an autolite.when I took it back and had it tested found out it was bad decided to go with a new unit.thats the first time I had one bad out of the box like that relly killed my day.
