my turbo( i think) is making a really bad screaming and churping sound when my rpms are going up. and sometimes the pressure builds up really high and when the transmittion changes gears it will start makeing a loud thumping sound in the front end. it will thump 5 or 6 times and then it will stop, but the screaming noises will start again.
when i am going up step inclines or running at low rpms the engine temp light comes on and the needle goes all the way up into the red, but as i start giving it gas it will drop back down into the normal range. and on cold morning i can leave it ideling for an hour and it will never get warm in the truck until i start driving down the road and after awhile the air will turn cold again. is this the thermastat sticking?
and today i was driving with the a/c on and pushed the off button. but then the whole display on the heater when blank and now nothing works on the heater/ a/c.
whats wrong with my truck guys?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like a number of issues that may not be related. Regarding the screaming turbo, I recently had mine replaced and I described the sound as screeching. It was a broken turbo shaft. Not something you want to ignore.
The climate control display is a problem that has shown up on several '05 trucks. When it goes blank, cycle your headlight switch through all of the positions and the climate control display will start working normally again. This is a known issue and your service dept should replace the climate control head unit (if you are still under the bumper to bumper warranty coverage). If you are out of warranty, the control unit will cost you around $500.
