Anyone ever painted their dash before? I'm ready for a change, and would like to do it, however I don't know what type of paint to use that will hold up and not peel in the heat.
Ford, Duplicolor, and most detail supply houses have color matched interior paint. Pay attention to the prep intructions, take your time, and you'll be fine.
I've done this before on a vehicle I used to own and it turned out pretty good. I could tell the areas that I didn't prep well because the paint didn't hold. As any paint job should be, most of your time should be spent on prep work. Lots of sanding and cleaning of every nook and cranny (sp?).
Gl and it'll turn out fine if you take your time as pberring stated
Are you talking about the plastic parts or the dash itself? If the dash you don't want a paint you want a dye. The best dye I have ever used came from this place.
Give them a call and they can get you anything you need. Also you will want their clear primer so the dye bonds better.

I assumed he meant just trim pieces but after re-reading I think it's the whole dash (lol). Yes a good dye will turn out probably better looking - you'll have more of the oem finish to it vs. a spray job (if that makes sense). I honestly don't think that you would have a problem with spraying, again, if you prep well. The look between the two are dramatically different so yeah... decide if you want dye or spray
Yes, I am talking about the entire dash, not just the trim. In fact I will leave the trim alone. (Leave it to me to do the hardest part, and not touch the easy one....)
not as difficult as most think... paint sticks pretty well.
i used a promoter for plastics.... i can't remember exactly what is called, you can find it at wally world. it says makes paint stick to anything on it.
haven't had any problems with chipping or fading, and this is the 2nd vehical i've done it to.
