Both are good versitle tuners.
I don't have performance tunes running on eaither truck, just tranny adjustments and etc.
Your not going to get much power increase on 87. Higher octane pump gas tunes yield quite a bit more hp tq over 87 tunes.
By adjusting fual/air ratio as well as spark advance 5-10hp rwhp an rwtq can be had on 87, however you need to go to the dealer for dyno tuning for best results. Of course this applies to a 2V, not sure about how the 3V will respond.
Both Diablo and SCT are around $400, you can't go wrong with either one.
Diablo and SCT have the most features and adjustable parameters as compared to other tuners and are updateable.
The SCT only works for the 04'-06', however a dealer can custom tune a blank 9400 tuner to any year.
i haven't had any experience with the programmers mentioned before, i've heard good things about the SCT 5-position chip. it's mainly designed for the mustangs, but i've heard pretty good things from some V10 owners too!!
as for trans upgrades here is what i have for the 4R100 in my truck
-BD diesel trans preassure loc #1060380 (provides line pressure, and lock up help)
-BD diesel trans by-pass tube kit (eliminates x-over tube and potential failure of the tube)
-Manual torque converter lock up switch (mainly have that for towing)
i also have a TransGo heavy duty tugger kit that is being prepared for installation!
I have the diablo programmer. I am really happy with it and I got it for 280 bucks from autoanything.com. The SCT switch chip works well for me. The thing I like about it most is the ability to change programs at the flip of a switch. These chips are best utilized when dyno tuning.

Banks is spendy. Everything is worth it except for the Ottomind chip, imo. I am still very impressed with the headers, the y-pipe, the muffler and the Trans command. Just call them for a price. It varies from month to month. But if they give you a price and you need to think about it and call back later, be sure to remind them of their original quote of they will usually try to stick you.
