pyrometer

I have checked all of the local auto parts stores and they tell me that thy cannot get a pyrometer. I saw one online but it was 170 for the gauge and 70 for the wiring kit. Any info or instalation tips would be appreciated. Also does anybody at all know what the adjuster underneath the top plate of the ip do? It just looks like a nut with springs on either side and it is down inside the diesel oil mixture. thank you

Watcha doing inside the IP......... if you mean the top cover is off..... what you will see is the metering valve. PM me an email addy and I will forward some vital info..... If you incorrectly replace the top your engine can go into a runaway state and destroy itself........ Ask for the IP TSB

Adjustments to fuel are done via the side cover as explained here........

I got my pyro from Summit racing. It's an Autometer phantom II series. Can't remember, but I think it was around 150 complete. There are pictures in my gallery of all my guages.

Gumboluvr is right. I also have an Autometer pyro. It was somewhere around $150 for the kit. Guage, thermocouple (probe), wiring kit. I was able to order mine thru the local Ford dealership. Also any speed shop or custom shop should be able to source Autometer products. Good luck, Cheers Rick

I have seen glowshift gauges for around half that, but they are relatively new, and haven't heard much about thier performance or quality.

I use the ISSPRO gauges. Got it from DPS performance. Remember there are two styles, one for mounting before the turbo and one after (if you have one). The readings for the the after turbo mount are adjusted for the lower temp. You will want to mount it as close to the exhaust port as you can to get the most accurate reading. I drilled right into the drivers side manifold. The ISSPRO setup has the option of using a hose clamp mount for the thermocouple. No need to drill and tap the manifold, just drill.
