shifter linkage

shifter linkage

Hello guys need your help again I have an 01 psd and the shift linkage i think is going when i put the shifter in park it stops at the reverse and drive is in 2 what should i check first or should i just go and buy a new linkage? And how hard are they to replace I really don't have alot of tools and no good place to work on the truck any help i would be very thankful

There are a few posts about this.. There are 2 torx screws up under the dash on the coulumb. If you position yourself that your head is touching or almost touching the brake peddle and look up and wiggle the shifter you will see atleast 1 of the screws (the other you might not be able to see depending on how you are laying) I bet they are loose. Mine was so loose that i could remove it with my finger. I can't remember what size it is but for some reason i am thinking T-45. But anyway tighten those up and your slop should be gone.. Also there is a little plastic **** behind the access panel you have to remove to see the fuse box. after you tighten up your screws you can use this to make sure the pointer is pointing in the right place.
