Rough idle and shake

I have a 96 powerstroke and it has a rough idle once its warm. when i first start it up it runs fine. And it also has a shake that it does when i push the clutch in and come back to idle or if its in neutral. i took it to the dealer and they hooked the computer up to it because my check engine light came on the codes it ran off were low exhaust back pressure and low\high fuel pressure. i put dual four inch stack on the truck so that explains the low back pressure. And it had all of these problems before i instaled the stacks. So ant help on this topic would be highly apperciated.

Check the connection on the icp. This sensor is on the head right behind the a/c compressor. Pull the connector out clean w/electric or brake cleaner, check for oil in sensor receptacle. This sensor controls oil pressure to injectors and is probably what set hi/low pressure code.If sensor is full of oil probably time to replace.Hope it helps..

While you have the connector unplugged , run it & see if the idle improves...

Most likely if this is happening warm, it will be in the HPO system, ICP IPR o rings ,injector o rings or an injector poppet screw....

How many miles on the oil?...

From Diesel Mans Page:

Isolating the cause can be done by disconnecting the ICP (the PCM will default to an ICP reading of 700 PSI and use other inputs for IPR control) and/or installing a high pressure oil gauge to monitor ICP pressure directly. If the concern is a rough, uneven idle that smooths out after disconnecting the ICP, The problem is most likely either the ICP malfuntioning or the IPR sticking. The manual says to replace the ICP first, but I have found that it is usually IPR. If you ever encounter an engine that runs with the IPR valve disconnected, the IPR is definitely sticking.

Do you have any mods on the truck? chip or tuner? Your vibration could be the dual mass flywheel going bad if you still have the stock style flywheel and clutch. and the codes could be unrelated if you have a chip or tuner.

i bought the truck in november of 06 and all i have done to it is 3 1\2" straight pipe to the 4" stacks. Im in the process of a cold air after i figure out this dam idle problem. And it has an upgraded clutch. i think that it is a 13" flywheel with a new clutch

the oil is pretty close to time to change it has about three thousand miles on it. But when i changed my oil it still had the shack and rough idle. Im planing on unplugging icp sensor when i get home. So if it runs straightens up and runs fine that means that my ipr valve is bad? Andd where is the ipr valve.

I would like to thank everyone for the help i pulled two sensors off and cleaned the ahit out of them. and it seems to run alot better. it got rid of the lowend shake problem. But it still has a slight rough idle but nowhere near what it had before. Do you think that if i replace the ipr or the icp if that will straighten it up any more?

i was told that ford put i believe it was a 12 inch flywheel in the powerstroke from 94-97 and it was enough to get the job done but wasnt enough for the truck. when i bought the truck they said the clutch went out at 150xxx miles and they upgraded to the 13". im not 100% sure if these facts are correct this is just what the used car dealership told me.
