i know this post is old but dont you need a adapter plate for the qjet? and could it be fitted to a 390?

YES you need a plate, unless you have a 429-460 & are lucky enough to find a 429 Q-Jet manifold late 60s/early70s. not sure of year when they used them.

I used a Edelbrock #1483 ford kick down linkage adapter to make the carb work on my automatic application or you may use a lokar kick down cable kit. I also used a 4 hole adapter plate Trans-Dapt #2034 flipped over and modified slightly to fit, had to grind down the bump on one side and counter drill the bolt holes on the other side to accept stud bolts, on the tops of the bolts I made a slice similar to a flat head screw to accept a screw driver to allow for tightening, and off course used locktite to hold the nuts to the correct torque.. Tip, if you use a later q-jet with the freed up adjustable APT system you can also dial in the cruise rpms spot on for your application....
