I am now officially in the market for a 427 block.
I believe that Dove Manufacturing is still making new iron blocks
but I haven't found a good phone number or website for them
There are used blocks still out there. yes I know they are pricey, but how much? $2000, $3000?
Worst case scenario I will get another 428 block
I know that Total Performance has lots of blocks, but I can't seem to find a good phone # for them either
thanks

Genesis Custom Manufacturing is taking orders for their new cast iron and aluminum 427 blocks. I'm not positive on price, but I think that the last numbers I saw for pre-release orders were $2995 for iron and $3995 for aluminum, which includes line-bored and crossbolted caps with bolts and washers. Check it out yourself at www.genesis427.com
Old iron will cost 1500-4500 depending on condiion. New unused blocks are going around 3500-4500.
Genesis should have theirs out any day now at 2995 iron and 3995 alum.
Carroll Shelby has new aluminum blocks (very nice units) at about $5500. Also has heads, rocker shafts, cranks, etc... $$$$$$$.
Dove says they have iron and aluminum, but most people say it would be quicker to cast your own than wait for one of theirs.
Playing the 427 game gets expensive quick, be ready. But if you get the right stuff and put it together well you will have tons of HP, torque and conversation.
Oh I know they are expensive
But I have everything I need to build a stroker cobra jet
The plan is to take my 428 crank, rods, CJ heads, lunati CJ pattern cam, ebok perf RPM manifold and carb and build a 455ci torque monster engine.
Right now I have a .060 over worn out 428 block. I am going to keep it, but another 428 block will cost 1000-1500. so why not spend a 2000-3000 an get a hell of a alot of inches?
Hey, dont get me wrong, I agree completely. You'll have the displacement of a 460 but with the longer stroke than a 460 you'll have torque to spare! Besides, 460s are like belly buttons, everybody has one. The same cannot be said of a stroker 427.
Just one other thing about getting the Genesis block. This is a NEW block with improvement over the old design. I forget all the improvements but they did make several.
Also, I would be very concerned about buying a used 427 block. I either buy it from a shop I knew or buy it AFTER the shop has checked it out. Dollar for Dollar, the genesis iron block seems to be the best deal.
