so i need license plate lamps to pass inspection. my bulbs are broken. i i go and buy replacement bulbs from advanced. they only have 1 wire. mine have 2.. i tried wiring around this.. anybody wanna help? take a pic of ur wiring so i can see how to do it again.. i dont have the rear lights front driving lights or guage cluster lights since i cut the wires.. :[
Your original lights probably had a plastic housing correct? That's why they need two wires, one for power(should be dark brown) and one for ground.
Your new lights have metal housings correct? So they make a ground when you mount them. I am assuming you have made new holes, or they are going to fit tight into the existing holes? They will have to fit tight in the bumper, so the outside of the new light will make a good connection to the bumper, and make a good ground. If you are doing something different, then you are going to somehow have to attach a wire to the outside of the new socket, and then hook it to the old ground wire you cut, so the new housing will be grounded.
Hook the dark brown wire up to the single wire, replace the fuse, and you should be good to go.
