I looked and cannot find a long drawn out procedure for taking the sensor out. That usually means I can't find the procedure, or it's obvious how the sensor comes out and they didn't put a procedure in the manual. Here's the check list they have when it doesn't work right.
Principles of Operation
The autolamp system provides light-sensitive automatic on-off control of the exterior lamps normally controlled by the regular headlamp switch. The autolamp system keeps the lamps on for a preselected period of time (20 seconds) after the ignition switch is turned off. The preselected time lapse is not adjustable.
Inspection and Verification
Verify the customer concern by operating the autolamps.
Visually inspect for the following obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

Headlamp switch
Central junction box (CJB) Fuse:
29 (5A)
BJB Fuse 3 (30A)
Wiring harness
Loose or corroded connections
Headlamp bulb
Headlamp relay
DRL relay #2 (if equipped)
DRL jumper (if equipped)
Light sensor amplifier
Correct mounting of light sensor amplifier
