Do Spark Plugs Wear Out?
I have a set of Autolite 45's that I have had in the truck now for over 40,000 miles. I have cleaned & re-gapped them several times since then, but I was just wondering if anything inside the plug such as the resistor eventually fail over time and cause misfires.
Call me strange, but I have no problem dishing-out 200 bucks for a new carb if I believe the old one is bad; but when it comes to spending 15 bucks on a new set of plugs when the old ones MAY be bad, I get really cheap.

You should be fine. Clean and regap (maybe square off the end of the electrode with a point file) until there's not enough metal left to properly gap 'em. If the insulators aren't cracked and your radio isn't buzzing the sparkplug will do its job and really doesn't need to be replaced. I've found I can file and regap mine two or three times before I toss them.
