Water Temp. Gauge

I just added a few more gauges to the truck. EGt. -- Boost -- Tranny Oil Temp. -- Engine Oil Temp. -- Volt meter -- and Water Temp. My Question is: Whats the best place to put the sensor for the Water Temp. Gauge? Everything else is installed.

Thanks for the help

I put mine on the water pump. There is a plug on the right hand side, if I remember correctly it use an allen wrench. The sensor will screw into that hole.

Yes sir. that is where I put mine. Even in the 100 weather, my temps are averaging between 180-190.

180-190? My sensor is in the external coolant filter mount, and I typically see around 210* when fully warmed up. Around town it might be a little lower, but out on the highway, it's right at 209 most all the time. That is also with a 203* thermostat.

I still have the stock thermo. I really couldn't see changing to a 203 considering how hot it is here where I live.

I had mine down on the water pump, but when I added an external water filter, I installed the temp sensor up on the filter head and it seemed to decrease the temp by 5* or so. I just got home towing in 105 heat through the mountains and with the stock factory thermostat, I only saw 210 with my 9500# fiver behind me. Mine averages between 200 and about 205 with a peak of 210. This is also with the sensor mounted on the filter housing....your results may vary but I like having my filter so I can use this as a guide, and it seems pretty accurate as far as I can tell.
