I have a 02 4.8 Expy. Past couple of months I have been towing a Uhaul trailer with 2 motorcycles. Total weight probably around 1400lbs. I have notice that the temp gauge rises especially going up a big hill. Will a transmission cooler help with the overheating. Any recommendations.

In a nut shell, No the tranny cooler will not help with a motor overheating problem; that would only help the tranny to keep cooler.
Actually we would need a little more information about things to help with any suggestions. I would suspect with the information you provided that all is working the way it is supposed to. Generally a system will get hotter as you are pulling a hill with any vehicle, especially if you are towing; and Im assuming that the guage does not peg at the hot range and that it returns to "normal" after the hill.
If you suspect that there is a problem, start checking the cooling system. Make sure the radiator is clear of debris, replace the thermostat, check the hoses and connections are tight, check for the right level of fluid, listen for the fan and make sure it is comming on.
