I've been wrong before, I'll be wrong again and I'm pretty sure I'm wrong this time. I think I get it now about the band. Mine have em unfortunately. How much do you think it would cost to ship those rims to Blaine, Washington? They'd have to go freight for sure. Feel free to email me privately to talk turkey.
I am still waiting for my 22.5s I foudn last week to be fitted with Mich XZEs after sandblast and paint. I toyed with enlarging them to 6 in from 5.25 to take the recommended 9R22.5s. American Wheel quoted $300 a piece to cut out the center and weld to a new one piece rim....too rich for my blood given everything else this costs so I am just having the 9r22.5s put on my 22.5X5.25 rims (from an old bookmobile). I am loving the peace of mind!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, if that truck IS an F6 It has a GVW of no more than 16,000lbs.
You don't want to break a spring!
You know, we get enough BIG trucks in Wa, we'll have to have a BIG truck meet somewhere in Wa.....like Arlington or somewhere!!
On a side note I just found out that my insurance company will allow me to register this beast as a classic meaning it will cost about $300 a year to insure for pleasure use. No commercial work but otherwise no restrictions on how I use all of it's 20,000GVW capacity.
I was thinking of seeing if local folks want to meet as well. Asa matter of fact I was just in your neck of the woods yesterday on Old Buckley Road learning how to drive draft horses. I was not driving the beast however. It still needs a few things to make her road worthy.
My F6 needs to get its new wheels and have the rear seal replaced. Then I will feel comfortable putting on the road again.
Let me know where and when to meet and with enough lead time I will clear my time to get there.
Jeeptrix, my F6 is in Everson and I go there now and then to play with it. If you need something from Seattle let me know and I'll bring it up. I know for sure I'll be up there in the next few weeks.
I live on Old Buckley Highway! You must have been on one of the farms just up the street...
Mine is layed up also!. I have the engine/trans out. I also have another rear axle to install and it's going to get a much more modern automatic transmission. (everything is going to get sand blasted too etc.......projects projects!)
I think an old truck get together around the Western Wa area would be fun...there's a lot of us in W Wa
Cheers,
Rick

I like the 'truck meet' idea. I'm in the Vancouver area of BC. A stones throw from Washington where my beast came from. I'd to rebuild my motor before doing any real highway driving though. She's just fine on short and slow trips for now. That brings up a point. I'm considering swapping a five speed for my original four speed 'syncro silent' tranny. Has anyone performed this swap? Does the five speed out of a 1953 F-6 have a PTO port like the 1951 four speed? This swap sure would make the long trips much more enjoyable.
The picture of the 5 speed in my 48-55 Chassis parts catalog shows a PTO cover.
Those transmissions are pretty scarce though. There's a direct model and an overdrive one... Obviously you'll want the OD model...
