I have a 2000 f-150 with 5.4 engine. The engine coolant crossover is leaking
where it mates on the block or manifold. It is spewing a horizontal spray onto
the igniter for the # 1 cylinder causing it to misfire. I bought replacement gaskets and started to unbolt the coolant crossover, but the some of the bolts
go in from underneath. I was able to get 4 of the 6 out but the last 2 are on
cylinder head sides and there seems no way get them out unless the intake
manifold and/or head/valve cover is removed. Which is out of my league.
Didn't want to take off intake manifold so I put it back together and put in Barr's radiator stop leak liquid. I know it probably isn't the best solution but was the most economical. Just don't understand why Ford made the problem hard to fix with some of the bolts unaccessible for the average diy-er. I bought the gaskets to fix it properly, but Ford made it too difficult.

Tried the Barrs leaks. Worked for about 1 month or less and the water ended up taking out the head gasket and I had to have the engine rebuilt for $2500.
i had the same leak a couple weeks ago. i looked in the manual and it said you have to take the intake manifold off, flip it over, and the cross over bolts to the bottom with 6 bolts. --- your right you can get to 4 of the 6 bolts while in the truck. i onlyhad a small lea. i tightned 4 of the bolts and ended up with only a drip. i put the Barrs radiator stop leak in and it stopped leaking in 10 minutes. this is not the head gasket, this is a water moanifold external leak... will see how it goes.
