removing EGR on 95 5.8 with DPFE sensor

Anyone attempted this? The EGR sits on a mast. I got everything loose, except there's a heater hose bracket in the way. The bracket is pinned in by the DPFE's metal tubes. Do I have to remove the mast from the exhaust manifold?

Thanks

I should have said I'm removing the EGR to clean it or replace it. The DPFE is the Delta Pressure Feedback of the EGR sensor (EGR sensor).

I replaced mine. To get the egr valve out, i had to remove the sensor and the bracket that held it in place because it was in the way then i disconnected the rubber tubes from the egr line tube. be careful not to bend the smaller metal tubes comming off the egr line. they cracked easily at the welds.

Do you have a 1995 5.8? Were you replacing your EGR because of a trouble code? If so, what was the code, and did replacing the EGR clear the code?

What did you do about the cracked metal tubes of the DPFE?

i have a 1996 5.8 . I currently have codes 171/174 Sys Too Lean for bank 1 and 2. i didnt end up replacing the egr or the sensor they all looked fine. i was removing it to look for carbon build up or anything that might be clogging the lines. i ended up wiping it down, installing everything back and replacing the rubber tubing. while accelerating at high speeds i can hear ratteling which i think is comming from the catalytic converter, which i havent gotten around to replacing yet. i think thats whats giving me those error codes, but i'm not an auto mechanic. So since i've gotten the truck what i have been doing is slowly going over the engine cleaning and looking for broken lines/wires/ or leaks. I looked around for a replacement EGR line and couldnt find one. The ones i saw online were straight tubes and i needed one that had the two smaller tubes comming off the side for the sensor. I read a post online that said just get a new one because they are better quality blah blah blah. i got one from the dealership for 50 bucks. After looking at the new one. i think i could have just re-welded my old one back together myself and had similar quality. I'm not sure what codes your troubleshooting, but here is a link to ford pdf's and service manual dvds.

My 95 is under the OBD1 system. I'm trying to diagnose a trouble code 332, with a CEL. 332 is "insufficient EGR flow detected." The EGR is ridiculously hard to get off, but I'm almost there. I also want to clean it up, and see if that clears the code.

I would think our engines are almost identical, but maybe not. If I broke one of the thin metal tubes coming from the exhaust manifold to the DPFE, I'd be in BIG trouble. I can see the nut at the exhaust manifold, but as usual for this truck, it's impossible to get to. I think I would have to remove the motor to get to it.

One time I had a mysterious rattle from under the truck. It turned out to be a bolt that had wedged itself against the exhaust pipe. I must have picked it up from the road somehow. Hopefully yours is as simple.

I saw my old posts, I wanted to update, that for my truck I actually had an air leak in the brake booster, I replaced it and the lean codes cleared.
