im sure this has been gone over before, but i cant find something on it. i have a 72 F250 camper special sport 2wd 360 w/ c6 tranz. can i bolt in a 460? what mods or creations need to be done. any help will be graciously accepted.
if yer knuckles arn't bleeding
or you don't have spare parts
you've done something wrong.
The transmission will have to be replaced due to the different bolt pattern and I'm sure the engine mounts will have to be tinkered with but maybe not. I have never done this swap.
A buddy of mine did this swap in his '74. The mounts will work fine but the bolt pattern on the tranny case don't line up. A new bellhousing should work fine.

The C6 doesn't have a bellhousing per se. The whole tranny case is one piece so he will have to get a new tranny. The pilot shaft is a different size also.
I am doing the same thing for my '67 Ranger 250 Camper Special. Couldn't turn down the deal I got on a fresh, healthy 460. When you get a trans for the 385 series, get the yoke with it. It is my understanding that the yoke is a slip, instead of a mount plate like the FE C6's. I have also been told that this pattern is the same as the 351M-400, so you can take one out of almost any late 70's truck. I didn't know about the mounts, if you find out something, let me know.
