Matt says he has tested this several time on a dyno, so I believe his word. On my bikes, quads and cars I will use a higher flow filter but not on my truck..too expensive.. You can almost get a custom tuner or guages for the money wasted on an intake setup..
It's not that I don't believe you guys it would just be nice to see the data. I don't feel like searching only to come up with pages among pages worth a year's reading of posts labeled "air filter questions". lol I use an afe stage 2 right now but switch back and forth between that and my stock donaldson with the blue filter. The only difference I notice in the two is the amount of whistle I get. I'm putting my stocker back on today.
oh and im not putting the stocker back on cuz you're guy's points, opinions, and facts won me over. It's going into a new dealer and I want it to be stock.
A. No I am not 12
B. I have seen quite a few pics from a/m air filters dusting the compressor wheel.
C. My response was not malicious, trust me, (ask around) if that was my intent, you would have known it.
You want proof, cool no problem. Use the search function, you will get all the proof you want. We have been over this only 200 times here. Every time someone such as yourself comes in here and asks a question and you don't get the answer you want, "we are being mean or closed minded".
Are you any good at math or physics? (again not trying to be condesending or mean, just trying to teach you something) If so, just relate the surface area of the elements you are compairing.
A smaller (much smaller) filter, we'll say for the sake of arguement all the pre oiled A/M types. For them to be smaller in size and flow more air, the media has to have larger pores or openings in it. The stock powercore filter will hold 8# of dirt. It has a much larger surface area with tighter pores, thus offering a much higher level of protection while offering a very good flow rate, even with several pounds of dirt in it. The 500HP claim comes from multiple dyno runs on different trucks with little or no gain in hp, at a risked increase of lesser protection. (is 1-2 hp worth a new turbo?)

I just put the stock one back in after having a truflow and in MY opinion I can tell quite a bit of difference with it and haven't heard anything bad about it. I recommend it.
YES! EXCEPT RELIABILITY AND LONGEVITY COMES INTO PLAY. THIS IS A DEAD ISSUE AND THE MOST REMEIDIABLE ON HERE. THE ONLY REASON GUYS WANT TO PUT ON A COLD AIT INTAKE(WHICH IS NOT COLD WHEN COMPARED TO STOCK BECAUSE IT IT FEED BY UNDER HOOD HIGHER TEMP AIR)IS BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE THAT IS THE EASIEST MOD YOU( THE NORMAL COMSUMER) CAN INSTALL IN A SHORT TIME...DO WHAT YOU LIKE MINE IS STOCK AND WILL STAY THAT WAY UNLESS I EXCEED THE PROVEN 5-550RWHP AND WILL REQUIRE MORE AIR.. MX is right you guys only want the feedback you want to hear..I use this and my VTX forum for other owners feedback and base my purchase on others experiences before I waste money on some product that no one likes..some Jus have opions and this is a proven fact.. I have 2 customers that I have asked what their mileage has done since installing these kits and they lose .5-1.0MPG AVG...nevermind the DUSTING your engine concern...
