Thumbs up want better sound without buying speakers and amps?

acoustical foam. i have an '07 f150 scab with pioneer 3ways and infinity reference 2ways in the back and stock head unit. i've spent $370 on 74 sq. ft of dynamat in my truck. that money has done the entire cab minus taking the dash apart. that money spent on butyl and aluminum helped mostly extraneous sounds and metal vibrations. fast forward to the $50 i spent on 6 sq. ft of acoustical foam and it's like i have separate enclosed speakers in each door. my volume literally has almost doubled, the sound is clear, high and lows, low volume even max volume, and my bass is punchy now. no distortion at any level of bass or volume whatsoever. i think the foam has taken care of the door panel vibration and probably some of the interior door metal vibration. $200 worth of speaker in my truck, no amps, no wires, no capcitors, no filters, no x-overs, no fuses, no extra batteries, no bulky boxes and no car alarms or pit bulls to protect an expensive system.

speakers $200
butyl, aluminum, acoustical foam $420
sound system that cost more in rubber than speakers and headunits and less in weight and sounds better than most of my friends systems that cost well into the 4 digits.... w-w-wait i gotta turn the volume down... priceless.

Agree. But why spend all that money on Dynamat when you can get products from Second Skin that work as well for less? http://www.secondskinaudio.com/

I have used this product, and all of it has worked really well. Cascade products (www.partsexpress.com) has worked well for me too. I use the liquid stuff. I love it.

Closed cell foam, is that the foam you used? If so, I agree. It makes a world of difference when you add this on top of the mat.

yeah i did the research and wanted damplifier but convenience won at a reasonable price. i didn't pay msrp for the dynamat, and it was always at the store when i had time to put it in my truck. yes closed cell foam made the biggest difference i think. it's not letting the door or the panel act as a lousy speaker.

the answer to your question disele75... i put some around the speakers, some on the top inside of the plastic door panel, inside the defroster space, and the 2 small trim panels separate from the back door panels. i might add 6 more sq ft @ 50 bucks but honestly, from the sound i'm getting now, i don't think there could be much more improvement.

add to that you can get pioneers from walmart very cheap......i compared prices online and walmart...and walmart rocks....just make sure u pick good working ones , as people open their boxes to see wuts inside and might poke the spkrs.

my 05 f250 and 99 f150 flareside are both setup with pioneers from walmart.....they rock! compared to ford stock spkrs! woohoo!
