Actually, I think you've hit on the strongest selling point for the Hypermax setup. The cowl opening is larger than stock, and since it's all prefab, installation is very straightforward. For guys like me, with no sheetmetal skills, this is a great chance to have better breathing with minimal hassle. I'll see this weekend just what it does for mileage and for loaded performance.

The most obvious drawback is the added noise. At 65mph, the roar inside the cab with the windows up pretty much puts an end to conversation or listening to the radio. I'll try some insulation on the inside firewall and some carpet (instead of the rubber floor mat), and see what that does to the noise level. Oh, yeah, the price. You're paying around $80 (tax, S&H, etc) for a plastic duct, some xerox'd instructions, and a foot of rubber duct. Is it worth it? I'll let ya know...

To be honest, I like my setup, but if I were doing a custom turbo prodject I wouldnt use the stock air box. I think that is where my restriction is now. With the turbo I only notice slightly more turbo noise, but I dont think its very bad.
I have nothing invested in my intake other than my time, but to buy the parts I used your lookin around $20.
