Has got to be at the transfer case. On ESOF systems there is a transfer case servo-motor that shifts between 2Hi, 4Hi or 4Lo. First...I would check the connection, then check if power is present. If both checkout ok, then it is the motor itself.
what is the process in checking for power at the motor and which one is the motor the big selonoid looking one or the one on the side of the tarnsfer case the connections all look ok
fuses all looked ok and it is the esof and which one is the motor the small one on the side or the big black one on the bottom if the transfer case thanks for any help
its gray with a big black thing on it with 2 wires hooked to it. My hubs were toasted and the motor was no good. So I had the hubs replaced with warn ones which are in my gallery. And had an oem motor put on and it works all the time now. and i tired numerous times to check the motor to see if it was good and I thought it was. I hooked the jump it to it and turned it to see if it turned and it did. the motor isnt a hard job actually it is quit easy.
wheni take this part off what will i encounter will i need to add fluid will there be any parts that will be falling out or is it just straight forward
just straight foward. just unhook the wires. and take the bolts out. there is a lil shaft in there that is in the transfer case that slips right into the motor. nothing should fall out.
ok so i tested the wires on the truck the two wires going to the smotor has no power when the switch is in 2wd or 4wd with the truck running but the wires going to the six prong connector has power to all of them i checked the relay and they made no difference i checked the fuses and they were all fine now what do i look for any help please

Does your ac go to the defrost mode when you turn it on? If it does then you have a vacuum leak.
The other "thing" on the transfer case besides the motor is a sensor of sorts - it's really just a switch that tells the GEM what gear the transfer case is in, and which light to light .
There are also two relays for the ESOF system, if I recall correctly.
