my guess is the transfer case motor went. same thing your going through is what I went through. how many miles are on your truck?

the truck has 123000 miles on it i guess that my question is even if the motor is bad would i not still have some sort of power to the wires going to the motor

If it is any help I have a 2000 F250 4X4 a while back the 4X4 would not shift into low range. High range worked fine. Took to the dealership and they replaced the brake switch on the brake pedal. Sounds strange to me but 4X4 works great now. Hope this helps.
