Guys I need to know ASAP if the Lightning GT40 Upper intake will fit a explorer 5.0 lower intake?

I'd doubt it, The GT-40 intake has large round ports.

Well.. the Explorer intake is a solid casting copy of the Lightinng/GT-40 intake.. internally they are identical. I believe the Explorer upper is squashed a little for hood clearance compared to the Lightning. The pics I have say it's a direct bolt-on, but the only thing to be gained here is looks, the tubular GT-40 upper is pretty sexy!!

Ok, I may be wrong on this, I thought they were more like the older car intakes.

Lightning Intake

Explorer Intakes

97-01 Explorer lower, Lightning lower, 96-97 Explorer lower

They look the same height to me.

One difference is that the explorer uses external EGR, but if I remember correctly, Jrock, you're not running EGR at all, are you?

96 to early 97 still had an internal EGR. The late 97 to 2001 were the ones with the external EGR. Here's a pic from my 96 Explorer intake.

Thanks for that info! I could have sworn that my friend's 96 5.0 explorer had an external EGR, though.
