my 1998 expedition has gone crazy..things will work fine and then i notice my speedometer stops and the start up lights flash on and off and my driver side window doesnt work it shifts hard also i can hear the starter ingauge once in a while like its trying to start.and my new battery dies over night..i have 235.000 on this truck second motor same trans it in great shape so i want to fix it and any ideas would be great..
I came to the site to do some research on a problem I am having and I saw this post. I have to laugh because I think my 1998 Expedition is also possesed. I recently bought an '04 Navigator so the Expedition has been sitting in my driveway and is not being driven on a daily basis.
Early yesterday morning my wife looks outside and said how come the lights on the Expedition are on? I'm was like what are you talking about? I go outside and sure enough my lights are on. The headlight switch is off and the auto headlamps switch is in the on position where it always is. The only way to get the headlights to turn off was to turn the auto switch to off. When I turn the auto switch back to on the lights come right back on (day or night). They have never done this before with the truck turned off. I will also note that it has been raining steady for the past couple of days.
Now that I see this post, I am wondering if I have a leak and something shorted out? Would a GEM module short cause a problem with the auto headlamps? The Expy has 205000 miles and had no history of electrical problems.~
i havent fixed mine yet.. it too is sitting in driveway for now i did have windshield last year and im not sure where it is or looks like to see if it got wet..does anyone know if a dealer need to fix this or i could do it myself..does a dealer need to programm it?
